~A House Dressed in White~

It is spring and we just moved into a new house. I have been deciding which pieces go where and the style I want to capture in this new space. I am wanting it to be white..Serene and beautiful shades of white. Since I was a young girl browsing Victoria Magazine with my mother , I have found rooms all in white enchanting..White is romantic and fresh. Perfect for spring and summer..
I began my spring restyle with white vintage linens on my vintage settee..I layered creamy white bedspreads and tablecloths..The ruffle hem adds a touch of femininity. I am having pillows made for her. Burlap, linen and lace will add the jewelry she so deserves.
Placing this vintage dresser in the diningroom gives me extra storage and a pretty place to set up plates and to serve on .I like using furniture in unexpected ways. Most would find this in a bedroom. I did use it for clothes at one time. I didn't want to hide her beauty in a bedroom. Her exquisite details are to be admired..

Adding vintage pieces to a room adds a soul and a sense of history to it. There patina tells a story..My vintage dress form and the old chippy sideboard above are flea market finds..My favorite place to be on the weekends is at the local flea. I have furnished my home with remnants from the past..Each possession once belonging to another..I love that notion..
All of the vintage lighting featured was found at the market for under $10.00 . The cherub lamp in the center was a mere dollar. It had been repaired, but I find those imperfections charming and unique.
Worn silver and milk glass are finds I never tire of .Vintage salt & pepper shakers create an elegant look placed on a silver tray. A wire rack makes for a perfect place to hold my milk glass cups..Rustic & refined..I love the mix of the two together.

Sheer damask curtains grace the large front window. I true lover of the light, I keep the windows dressed in lace or sheers.. When the sunlight filters through the fabric, the pattern dances across the room , creating an ethereal ambiance that makes you want to linger and perhaps daydream awhile.
I am enjoying our new home. I have been cooking and baking, going though the many boxes of packed treasures, each one wrapped with care. I sometimes forget what I have. When I unwrap something, it is like finding it all over again. This white dove feather was found on a walk in the neighborhood. I am a nature girl. I like adding natural elements to my home. I have no doubt in the coming weeks during the beautiful spring weather,as a decorate the rest of the house, fill the  patio with flowers and plants, enjoy walks through the neighborhood, I will come across a delicate robin's egg, the shell after the sweet baby bird has hatched, a yearly tradition I have had with my two daughters Devin & Lauren. It too will find a place of importance somewhere in my new home..Perhaps under a vintage cloche?. I hope you enjoy the pretty pretty days ahead. I shall capture the progress I make around the new house and share it with you soon..Until then..Have a beautiful & romantic week..
