~Autumn~ Lace & Leaves.. A Rustic Romantic Home~

Autumn~ The leaves are falling, days are ending early, evenings have us fetching a cozy warm sweater or soft crocheted blanket..The aroma's of creamy hot chocolate, spiced apple cider, pumpkin pie, and fresh baked bread fill our kitchen's with a feeling of warmth, comfort, and happiness..Fall is a favorite season of mine..I love the changing colors, the fragrance in the air from burning embers in a fireplace, taking long walks, gathering nature's goodness..Pinecones, leaves, acorns and dried flowers..It is good for the soul to embrace nature's beauty..And I incorporate that beauty into my Autumn home..My mantle is a mix of leaves, acorns, dried and fresh roses, mirrors and lace, treasured flea market finds..

Rust and roses.Rustic & romantic.Vintage urns, metal baskets, and architectural elements give a sense of history to my home..

A vintage barkcloth pillow from the 40's , lace, ruffled fabrics ,dried Hydrangeas and roses create an inviting space on the patio to linger with a good book or magazine.

Burlap, brown transferware, muted pink lace and roses
grace a niche in the kitchen..

White gourds and pale fairytale pumpkins are enveloped with vintage lace. A romantic embellishment that is unexpected yet whimsical. A dried pink Peony adds even more romanticism.A tattered country chair and vintage straw hat with millinery flowers lend a timeworn and feminine touch as my guests enter my home..

Vanilla Chai tea in a lovely cup , lanterns & vintage glass votives filled with candles adds to the very romantic ambience I adore.

~Autumn beckons us to spend more time inside our home. While its beautiful outside, nothing is sweeter than cozying up under a handmade quilt, sipping something delicious whether it be a latte or a crock of French onion soup{my favorite} and watching an old romantic movie..And while we are enjoying the creature comforts of a relaxing respite, creating a home that speaks to all of your senses is one of the most beautiful gifts you can give to yourself and to those you love..Enjoy these first days of fall..Make it beautiful & romantic..xo..

~A House Dressed in White~

It is spring and we just moved into a new house. I have been deciding which pieces go where and the style I want to capture in this new space. I am wanting it to be white..Serene and beautiful shades of white. Since I was a young girl browsing Victoria Magazine with my mother , I have found rooms all in white enchanting..White is romantic and fresh. Perfect for spring and summer..
I began my spring restyle with white vintage linens on my vintage settee..I layered creamy white bedspreads and tablecloths..The ruffle hem adds a touch of femininity. I am having pillows made for her. Burlap, linen and lace will add the jewelry she so deserves.
Placing this vintage dresser in the diningroom gives me extra storage and a pretty place to set up plates and to serve on .I like using furniture in unexpected ways. Most would find this in a bedroom. I did use it for clothes at one time. I didn't want to hide her beauty in a bedroom. Her exquisite details are to be admired..

Adding vintage pieces to a room adds a soul and a sense of history to it. There patina tells a story..My vintage dress form and the old chippy sideboard above are flea market finds..My favorite place to be on the weekends is at the local flea. I have furnished my home with remnants from the past..Each possession once belonging to another..I love that notion..
All of the vintage lighting featured was found at the market for under $10.00 . The cherub lamp in the center was a mere dollar. It had been repaired, but I find those imperfections charming and unique.
Worn silver and milk glass are finds I never tire of .Vintage salt & pepper shakers create an elegant look placed on a silver tray. A wire rack makes for a perfect place to hold my milk glass cups..Rustic & refined..I love the mix of the two together.

Sheer damask curtains grace the large front window. I true lover of the light, I keep the windows dressed in lace or sheers.. When the sunlight filters through the fabric, the pattern dances across the room , creating an ethereal ambiance that makes you want to linger and perhaps daydream awhile.
I am enjoying our new home. I have been cooking and baking, going though the many boxes of packed treasures, each one wrapped with care. I sometimes forget what I have. When I unwrap something, it is like finding it all over again. This white dove feather was found on a walk in the neighborhood. I am a nature girl. I like adding natural elements to my home. I have no doubt in the coming weeks during the beautiful spring weather,as a decorate the rest of the house, fill the  patio with flowers and plants, enjoy walks through the neighborhood, I will come across a delicate robin's egg, the shell after the sweet baby bird has hatched, a yearly tradition I have had with my two daughters Devin & Lauren. It too will find a place of importance somewhere in my new home..Perhaps under a vintage cloche?. I hope you enjoy the pretty pretty days ahead. I shall capture the progress I make around the new house and share it with you soon..Until then..Have a beautiful & romantic week..

~Immortal Beloved...~

Though still in bed, my thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved, now and then joyfully, then sadly, waiting to learn whether or not fate will hear us ...

Yes, I am resolved to wander so long away from you until I can fly to your arms and say that I am really at home with you, and can send my soul enwrapped in you into the land of spirits ...

No one else can ever possess my heart - never - never - Oh God, why must one be parted from one whom one so loves ... Your love makes me at once the happiest and the unhappiest of men ...

My angel, I have just been told that the mailcoach goes every day - therefore I must close at once so that you may receive the letter at once ...

Be calm - love me - today - yesterday - what tearful longings for you - you - you - my life - my all - farewell. Oh continue to love me - never misjudge the most faithful heart of your beloved.

Ever thine,

Ever mine,

Ever ours.

... The Immortal Beloved Letters, Ludwig van Beethoven

A classic....Happy Valentines Day..xo..

~Autumn Romantica~

I adore Autumn..The chill in the air, wearing sweaters and my signature crochet ponchos
& shawls, spending more time baking..I am not into the traditional fall colors..Oranges & yellows are not favorite's..I still prefer my whites, creams, light browns, & muted pinks..I bought some fairytale pumpkins and white gourds the other day. I covered some of them with my vintage lace crochet doilies.I love to make even items from nature look more romantic..
